I’m a working mom and stuck in a dead-end career. I desperately long for a new job but there’s no way I can leave my current job or my kids to go to college and get a degree. I also don’t have any money.
Are there any programs that are free that are quality?
Absolutely. You can find a complete list of free online courses, many of which offer certificates employers find valuable at mooc-list.com.
If you’re new to the term, MOOC refers to massive open online courses, web-based classes available to all. Harvard, Stanford, Cornell, Duke, UCLA, the University of Phoenix and many other higher education institutions offer MOOCs. Many courses are free.
You can take a course in ten-to-thirty-minute chunks when you’re waiting for your kids to get up in the morning or after you put them to bed.
According to a Coursera (one of the largest online course providers) survey reported that one-third of more than fifty thousand students stated that they course they took translated into a new job, promotion or raise.
