p.s. None of the above are autobiographical despite my HR background–I just used HR as the novel’s workplace setting:)
Thanks!

I vote 3 or 1. 3 has a little more unusual start; sentiments in both have me wanting to read it!
Thanks, Susan!
I choose #1 with one change. Replace the last “risk” with “endanger.” Otherwise – perfect!
1) Career-obsessed Jess always knew falling in love had risk, but she never imagined online dating could endanger her life as well as her heart
Thanks, Wendy, great word choice.
I like #3 the best, but must admit the opening in #2 about her fiance having died in a plane crash was intriguing.
Thanks, Dee, I created a 4th based on your comment:

Hi Lynne. I like #1. Was so hoping it was an autobiography.
Career-obsessed Jess, recovering from her heroic fiancé’s plane crash death, knew falling in love had risks, but never imagined online dating would endanger her life as well as her heart.
Rather “wordy” yet includes most of Your “premise”. Could leave out “plane crash” as heroic would be draw enough with people wondering how the “hero” perished.
Career-obsessed Jess, recovering from her heroic fiancé’s death, knew falling in love had risks, but never imagined online dating would endanger her life as well as her heart.
One, or maybe three.
Thanks, Ronni, for weighing in!

I liked number one best.
